• FCICA Convention 2019 - an oasis of opportunities

The brightest and most dedicated individuals in the commercial flooring industry, including contractors, manufacturers’ technical representatives, distributors, and consultants discovered a desert oasis in Tucson, Arizona, at the El Conquistador. Between learning, networking, and discussing future initiatives for the association, attendees had the opportunity to explore miles of hiking trails at Catalina State Park and Coronado National Forest, enjoy tropical drinks and time in the pool.
In the lead up to Convention, attendees had the opportunity to participate in the 3 Days to CIM program, allowing attendees to earn their Certified Installation Manager designation in a 72-hour marathon session. We are so proud of each of the CIM attendees who put in the time to learn the industry standard for managing commercial flooring projects! Graduates were celebrated at a Graduation Dinner on Monday, March 25.
Opening Session on Monday morning recognized Certified Installation Managers that recently completed the program and over 50 first-time attendees! Kim Oderkirk, FCICA Executive Vice President, was also honored for her 20 years of dedication to FCICA with a picture montage. Following Opening Session, attendees enjoyed keynote speaker Theresa Rose, who wowed the crowd with her comedy and related her motivational and mindfulness techniques to the daily lives of flooring professionals.
The Commercial Flooring Trade Show was held from 2 – 6 p.m., with a Happy Hour from 5 – 6 p.m. The trade show provided attendees the opportunity to network with technical representatives, learn about new products and solutions, and ask questions. Following the trade show, Loba-Wakol and Evoke Contract presented interactive product demonstrations.
FCICA had a great line up for educational sessions led by industry experts on the following topics: Mind-Blowing Leadership, What’s New With Tools, Building Relationships, ASTM 3191 and Concrete Porosity, and Acting on Contractual Obligations. Several sessions were recorded to be curated into on-demand content. Those who attended the sessions, demonstrations and trade show received continuing education credits which can be applied to the CIM Program, IICRC, and other organizations that require continuing education.
FCICA’s 2019 Mid-Year Meeting will be held in Atlanta, GA, October 15 – 17, 2019. More details and registration will be available in June. This year both 3 Days to CIM and ICRI will be taking place in conjunction with the Mid-Year Meeting.
